“THERE IS NO ONE SO HOPELESSLY ENSLAVED AS HE WHO FALSELY BELIEVES HE IS FREE. . . .”
-Goethe

An American leader Goethe was not but he aptly describes the state we find ourselves in. I mentioned previously a discussion with a family friend. In the end the poor guy continued to claim the US as the most freedom loving nation in the world even if it has slipped a little in the civil liberties department. According to him it’s actions no matter how horrendous are justified in the name of fighting freedom hating terrorists. As I mentioned before, he was only able to take things so far even when given the facts of the crimes our “freedom loving” or freedom defending government. He couldn’t handle the fact that it has long been committing crimes against it’s own citizens as well as those abroad to further it’s aim. He refused to believe it.

Here are a few of them:
Bombing the uss maine

… there is another possibility that deserves consideration. Was the explosion on the Maine a deliberate provocation by US militarists or their agents to foment war with Spain?

Pearl Harbor and wwII

HUNDREDS of former US prisoners of war have begun a battle for compensation after uncovering documents that allegedly prove the wartime administration deliberately used them as a tool to whip up domestic support for war with Japan.

Tonkin gulf
American Planes Hit North Vietnam After Second Attack on Our Destroyers; Move Taken to Halt New Aggression“, announced a Washington Post headline on Aug. 5, 1964.

That same day, the front page of the New York Times reported: “President Johnson has ordered retaliatory action against gunboats and ‘certain supporting facilities in North Vietnam’ after renewed attacks against American destroyers in the Gulf of Tonkin.”

But there was no “second attack” by North Vietnam — no “renewed attacks against American destroyers.” By reporting official claims as absolute truths, American journalism opened the floodgates for the bloody Vietnam War.

This article gets into more details of things our government have done to us citizens and it ain’t pretty.

As we search for answers to how we got here a look back is also necessary. Clearly we did not heed the words of our leaders from the past. They were well aware of human nature and what could become of the American experiment if we do not remain vigilant. Well, we have fallen asleep at the wheel and have failed to hold our government accountable. If these leaders from the past were to rise from the grave today uttering the same words they once did, how quickly would they be accused of being “with them”….the terrorists. While Americans argue for or against the war through deception those in power continue to plunder and destroy even their own back yard.

“The loss of liberty at home is to be charged to the provisions against danger, real or imagined, from abroad.”
They that can give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.
Benjamin Franklin

Would Franklin see us as deserving of liberty today?

fighting a foreign enemy.

..”If Tyranny and Oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy.” ..

-James Madison

In viewing the state of affairs in the US of A the idea that the government has our best intrest at heart during this war on terror just doesn’t add up. Today I sat at my kitchen table listening to a long time family friend go on and on about the freedoms in America and what Arab terrorists have done to it. I could not help but ask him what laws have Arabs actually enacted which reduce our freedoms. The last time I checked it was branches of the federal government that was responsible for the homeland security act, and it was local governments like that of New York City that came up with the silly and ineffective idea to illegally search the bags of subway riders. Furthermore, it was us American citizens that went along with it without any real protest. Sure the usual suspects like the ACLU raised their voices, but it is the salt of the American earth like my family friend that supports this farce and this is sad.

Anyway, his answer was that they were forced to pass such laws because of terrorism and it is only to protect us. Keep in mind that he started out complaining about declining freedoms and to him it was the terrorists fault. I guess he never heard that some of the provisions of homeland security act, and even the plans to attack Iraq were actually being drawn up long before planes flew into the world trade center in NY. Just as I told him, you dear reader can also see for yourself how deep this goes at: http://www.freedomfiles.org/war/homeland.htm

Even more concise lists of evidence can be found at http://signs-of-the-times.org/signs/signs.htm

He stared at me in disbelief but was brave enough to ask the question my statement and the evidence implied. His question was whether or not I am implying that our government wanted such terrorist attacks as a guise for passing these types of laws. I think he was on the right track but it was rather difficult for him to go further with the implication-that our government or factions of it not only wanted but probably had a role in the attacks in order to get the sort of laws passed that homeland security present and because they wanted to go to war with Iraq. When Bush said terrorists hate our freedoms, then sponsor laws that removes said freedoms, one must conclude that he is either a terrorist or terrorist supportor since he is promoting freedom denying laws. One can further conclude that he hates our freedoms and needed an event to remove them. “nothing in politics happens by accident according to FDR”. The attacks on 911 caused untold political benfits for neo-cons and major harm to the freedom loving state of America. We have become a nation of citizens demanding denial of rights, denial of freedoms for the fleeting benefit of protection.

Patriotism

“Guard against the impostures of pretended patriotism.”
–George Washington

Today we see patriotism equated with supporting a war that contributes to our destruction as a nation. Real patriots would question the way this country is going. I applaud the bravery of
of this woman and am thoroughly disgusted by the cowardice of our so called leader and those who support his lies.

We must become more creative in spreading the word about how this nation became the beast empire.

It is imperative that we not only listen to the good music but that we support such efforts. We may well need these voices of truth to survive the lies.
