opportunism

“You cannot avoid the interplay of politics within an orthodox religion. This power struggle permeates the training, educating and disciplining of the orthodox community. Because of this pressure, the leaders of such a community inevitably must face that ultimate internal question: to succumb to complete opportunism as the price of maintaining their rule, or risk sacrificing themselves for the sake of the orthodox ethnic.”
–from “Muad’Dib: The Religious Issues” by the Princess Irulan in Frank Herber’s Dune books.

The past two weeks I found myself frozen like a deer in the headlights. I could not write anything as I was thoroughly disgusted by what the world has descended to. I was also worried about relatives in London but I can only sit for but so long feeling depressed. The war on terror is an opportunism for maintaining the rule of a select group of people who have an orthodox religion. Most of us fools think the only orthodox religious followers are Muslims while a few of us may count some jewish sects as the orthodox followers. But here I am alluding to another type of orthodoxy even if a few of in this select group includes people claiming jewish descent. Members of this group follow a religion called neo-conservatism otherwise known as world domination. Some say christian fundamentalism but it’s as christian as Hitler’s ideas about the spear of destiny. It goes a lot deeper than that. It must because the terror attacks which occur in the west seems to happen where the citizens are critical of the war on terror. The attacks pose a perfect opportunity for diminishing our rights to the benefit of those who follow the orthodox religion.

In an example of how complaining citizens become targets. A brit colonel in Iraq pre London bombings complained: http://villagevoice.com/news/0527,axe,65576,6.html

“You can’t have an insurgency without an occupier to fight. And if you justify your occupation as an effort to combat insurgency, then you’re chasing your own tail. Williams calls it a “chicken and egg thing.”Many Americans apparently believe that the occupation of Iraq is part of some greater conflict, be it a clash of civilizations or a global war on terrorism. But for the British, who’ve occupied Iraq before, Iraq is less a crusade than another in a long string of costly efforts to prop up the shambling nations of the world. “The American military is at war,” Williams says. “We’re not. We’re on operations. The British people do not believe we are at war. Americans do.”

Not long after there was a published report that the Brits would be pulling out of Iraq by next spring. Then the London terror attacks occured. I Wonder what the British people believe now? The war on terror is now their war too.

I’ve since seen this: poll result.

Should I worry about another terrorist attack on american soil? Should the Japanese worry about their own cities?

In asking who benefits most from these attacks and one may see the man behind the curtain. I doubt it has an arab face but if it does, then one must also look for the string attached and follow that string. There you will find those who have long succumbed to complete opportunism because they are never willing to sacrifice themselves for the sake of the orthodox ethnic. They sacrifice ordinary folks like you and I, our sons and daughters for the orthodox ethnic.

I know I said this blog is about the state of our nation but the fact that we hardly criticized the government in Darfur but can swiftly deal with Saddam for his undemocratic ways including his “gassing of the Kurds” says a lot about the hypocrisy of our leadership. This includes the previous one too.

Refugees fleeing . . . from a village called Saleya described how nine boys were seized by the janjaweed, stripped naked and tied up, their noses and ears cut off and their eyes gouged out. They were then shot dead and left near a public well. Nicholas Kristof, reporting from Sudan about the genocide in Darfur (”Uncover Your Eyes,” The New York Times, June 7)

Bush has lost interest in the relentless destruction of these black Africans because, as the June 7 Financial Times reported, “US officials say Sudan is [now] a valuable partner [with the United States] in the ‘global war on terror.’

The above is second hand sourcing from a piece on the Sudan situation by
The Village Voice’s Nat Hentoff found here: http://villagevoice.com/news/0527,hentoff,65564,6.html

As you read this anyone with a bit of conscience would want to start the letter writing campains and protests as Nat Hentoff did. It will not do a thing though, especially here in the USA. To understand why it will fall on deaf ears in this country as Hentoff has found, I think a study of the psychopath may be in order. How to celebrate the lie

From the good people at signs of the times

You Lied.

Democracy dies, When Bush lies

The question remains what can we do about this
Most people refuse to consider this list
They’re lost in illusion, can’t recognise proof
so we offer this song to all who stand for the truth

No more lies, No more lies
Must we all die, Because of your lies

Today we celebrate that most patriotic of holidays-the fourth of July, the birth of our great nation. As many of us fire up the barbeque and sip on our beers I wonder what it is we are celebrating. Personally I like to listen to some good music during any holiday. Still I find it difficult to celebrate tyranny, greed and the ever present rise of facism. Instead I will spend the time pondering how we got to this point. Maybe it’s because of the lies.

You can even listen to the song from which I just quoted lyrics above. It sounds pretty good too while eating burgers and drinking beer. If you don’t like the lyrics which are pretty spot on in my opinion, the music and the vocals are also quite good.
